“It was the most intimate moment, and I knew it was my God speaking to me!”
There’s a difference between knowing about God and knowing God. Knowing about God might change your opinion, but knowing God changes your heart.
Our friend RaeAnn from New Mexico called to share with us how an encounter with God left her profoundly changed.
RaeAnn, 43, has had what most people would call a great life. She’s married and has a daughter. She has even gotten to do fun jobs like working at Disneyland as Minnie Mouse and Winnie the Pooh!
She heard the Gospel at an early age and believed it. She did everything you’d typically associate with living a Christian life. She attended services, sang the songs, listened to the messages, and then went home. She learned about God, but her spiritual walk never had much of an effect on her heart. She kept it up because she knew it was the “right thing to do.”
Even though RaeAnn had never had addictions or serious brokenness, and her life seemed righteous compared to some, she began to feel that something was missing. She suffered from anxiety. She would hear stories of other believers who felt fully alive and fulfilled in their relationships with God…And she wanted to know why her own walk with God didn’t have that kind of intimacy.
Then on the 4th of July, God answered. Her daughter asked her to listen to a Christian song.
She said, “As I was listening to this song, I got this overwhelming, amazing, and beautiful feeling that came over me, like a storm. I just started to weep…I couldn’t stop crying! It was the most intimate moment, and I knew it was my God speaking to me!”
Psalm 16:11 tells us, “You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.” RaeAnn found the joy she was longing for in the presence of God, and she was forever changed. God has taken her anxiety from her and given her life a new trajectory. Â

RaeAnne is learning more and more about how to pray, and she’s excited to participate with the Crossroads Community Church online campus. She is overjoyed at how God puts people in our paths at the right time, and He always has a plan. She told us, “Now, I can’t get enough! I am always in His Word and praying. It is so beautiful!” “Now, I can’t get enough! I am always in His Word and praying. It is so beautiful!” Click To Tweet
Are you feeling spiritually dry like RaeAnn was? Perhaps you know a lot about God, but has that knowledge resulted in loving and relying on God? Or is it just an accumulation of facts in your head? It’s important that we move on from merely believing that He exists. He rewards us when we earnestly seek him (Hebrews 11:6). He promises that when we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us (James 4:8). God is inviting you to know Him intimately today. Will you answer?
