Can You Return Home? 🏠

“I had been tormented for 3 years, and now because of Jesus, I am free!”

Last week we got a call from a viewer, Javier, from Houston. He’s 36 years old and grew up in Mexico, in a Christian home with 7 brothers and sisters. But he met Jesus just a few years ago and led a very different life from anyone else in his family. As early as age 10, he began to experience same sex attraction, which led to living a gay lifestyle. He also started drinking, eventually getting 4 DUIs—the last of which landed him in jail after he resisted arrest.

With a court hearing scheduled, Javier was released on bail. He felt tormented and hopeless. He said, “I just wanted to kill myself. I felt like there was this evil spirit in me telling me to do it!” He landed in the hospital after attempting to take his own life.

At rock bottom, Javier went home from the hospital with his parents. That’s when the Lord began to get his attention. At church the following day, Javier answered the Lord’s call at the altar and received the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Right away, he knew that something was different!

“The pastor came to me and asked if she could lay hands on me and pray,” he said. “She rebuked the enemy! I no longer hear the evil voices in my head. It was the most amazing miracle! I had been tormented for 3 years, and now because of Jesus, I am free!”

Although he was forever free spiritually, Javier still had to face the court. As he awaited this trial, he made a promise to God. He said, “I told God, if He helped me stay out of jail, I would never be with another man again.” That week in court, his felony case was dismissed! He said, “I knew that being with men was not of God. I cried out to the Lord for forgiveness. I heard a voice, and the words I heard were, ‘I have forgiven you.’” He said, “Lord, I will keep my promise to you!”

Javier has been clean and sober since 2012. Since then, he’s taken a number of steps to grow in his walk with God. He had been longing for encouragement in his walk with God, so he started watching Real TV with Pastor Daniel on the Hillsong channel. He said, “Pastor Daniel is so very encouraging. I really liked the way he preached. I understood him every time I would watch him. I look forward to watching his show, it really helps me with my life!”

We’re so excited to be part of Javier’s journey and to continue to walk with him. We know that God has an amazing ministry in store for Javier as he grows in faith, pointing others toward the same freedom he now experiences in Christ!
